Romani Discography

This is just the list of recordings we have been able to collect from commercial vendors, which thus should be available to those sufficiently motivated to seek them out. Below we have also listed other resources. For lack of any better alternative, the order listed is alphabetic by country of origin, which with a few exceptions also corresponds the type or genre. Multi-national/regional compilations are found at the end of the table. This is, and always will be a Works-in-Progress portion of this site. Notes regarding soundclips presented here for the purpose of providing examples of the glorious music of the Roma: Their inclusion is meant to be illustrative and educational. It is hoped that they will entice the listener to purchase the CDs, and thus support these wonderful musicians and their artistry - as well as the record companies who have seen fit to record and bring their music to the world at large. Artists or recording companies who wish to suggest alternate clips or wish to have soundclips removed are encouraged to send email to: roma@romani.org. Copyright issues: We believe the inclusion of soundclips in this discography use fulfills the generally accepted criteria for fair use of copyrighted material - ie 1) the nonprofit, educational, and non-commercial purpose of their inclusion; 2) the small size of the clips in relative to the entire tracks, and their substantially inferior audio quality in comparison to the originals, limiting their use as substitutes; 3) the lack of adverse effect on the commercial value or marketability of the original works; and 4) the potential of such use to actually increase sales benefiting both the artists and record companies.

Items with the RealAudio logo indicate higher quality - higher bitrate soundclips, designed for those with 56k internet access, but which will stream successfully at 28.8 after about 30 seconds or so of buffering. Items with the blue RealAudio logo indicate lower quality - lower bitrate soundclips, designed for those with 28.8 k modems, which will typically begin to play within 15 seconds.
